COVID-19 Resources

This webpage was created by the UIW Study Abroad Office to provide guidance related to UIW Study Abroad's COVID-19 travel resources and procedures. For up-to-date information regarding COVID-19 at UIW please see the UIW COVID site. This page was last updated August 11, 2021.

International Affairs, in collaboration with UIW executives and UIW health services, continue to monitor the global health conditions by referencing official sources, such as the CDC, WHO and the U.S. Department of State. International Affairs also maintains communication with counterparts in selected sister school locations. International Affairs continues their contracts with CISI and ISOS, which are risk mitigation and insurance services available for all UIW sponsored International programs.

Understanding the Current Climate

In the best interest of our students and faculty health and wellbeing, the UIW International Affairs division in collaboration with the Business Continuity Team and cabinet have cancelled all Summer 2021 outgoing study abroad programs and activities. International Affairs will continue monitoring the news and updates from various countries to determine future programs and international activities. For more information, please contact Javier Lozano, Ph.D., Director of International Programs at (210) 805-3015 or email lozano@uiwtx.edu.

Currently, the office is advising for Spring and Summer 2022 and onward utilizing a ‘stay on campus’ contingency plan in case of future cancellation.

Future Programs

UIW Study Abroad continues to closely monitor federal and international travel advisories and restrictions. Although state and federal restrictions are being loosened, the global threat posed by COVID-19 still remains high.

  • Spring 2022 cancellation dates TBD

Please be advised:

Faculty-Led Programs

The decision to cancel Faculty-Led Programs will be made on a case-by-case basis.
